Health Risks Associated with the Recalled Product
Lab tests have detected Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Listeria monocytogenes in amounts exceeding regulatory safety limits. These bacteria can cause serious illnesses, with potential symptoms including:
- Abdominal pain and diarhhoea, which can be bloody, usually within three days post-consumption.
- Fever, headache, muscle pain, and in severe cases, neurological complications and pregnancy-related issues due to listeriosis.
These conditions can be severe in pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

The recall concerns "L'Eleveur" smoked ham, identified by lot number 24138 with a best before date of June 16, 2024. Sold under vacuum packaging from May 17, 2024, to May 31, 2024, in selected regions of Guadeloupe and distributed by various major retailers including Carrefour, Auchan, Super U, and others.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised to:
- Not consume the product and to destroy it immediately.
- Seek medical advice if they experience any related symptoms, mentioning the consumption of the product and the identified contaminating agents.
